Notes on Dynamic Ventures General Journal Entry

The package contains the following:
- Dynamic Ventures General Journal Entry.zip (the QuickBooks plug-in)
- Dynamic Ventures General Journal Entry.doc (the user guide with instructions on how to install and use the plug-in)
- Import file.xls and Import file 2.xls (two sample Excel files – see Notes chapter from Dynamic Ventures General Journal Entry User Guide)
To install and run the application:
1. Close QuickBooks.
2. Unzip the attached Dynamic Ventures General Journal Entry.zip to a folder on your computer.
3. In the folder where you unzipped the archive, run the Dynamic Ventures General Journal Entry.exe file and follow the installation steps described in the Installation chapter from Dynamic Ventures General Journal Entry.doc.
For Vista/ Windows 7 installation, do as showed below or follow the installation steps described in the Installation on Vista chapter from Dynamic Ventures General Journal Entry.doc:
- Close QuickBooks
- Right-click on the installer (Dynamic Ventures General Journal Entry.exe) and choose “Run as administrator”
- Install the product
- Open QuickBooks by right-clicking on the icon and selecting “Run as administrator”
- Allow access of the application to the QuickBooks file
- You may get some error message saying “Could not connect to QuickBooks” – ignore it
- Close QuickBooks and reopen it w/o running it as admin and you may start using it. In the future, you don’t need to open QuickBooks as administrator
For some of the QB 2011 editions you may have to:
If you have installed on your computer any of the QuickBooks® 2011, Enterprise, Premier or Pro editions, before beginning the installation for the General Journal Entry application you must open QuickBooks®, access Edit menu->Preferences-> General-> My Preferences tab-> unmark Keep QuickBooks® running for quick startups.
After installing the plug-in, if you want, you can reactivate the option.
To uninstall the plug-in:
Go to Start-> Settings->Control Panel-> Add/Remove Programs, select Dynamic Ventures General Journal Entry and pressRemove
NOTE:
1. The plug-in requires QuickBooks Redistributable Package 8.0 and Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0. In case you don't have any of these components installed on your computer, the installer will assist you with downloading and installing them.
2. The plug-in works on QuickBooks 2006 or higher and on Excel version 2002 or higher; also, it was designed to work on a specific format of Excel file – refer to the “Prerequisites” chapter of Dynamic Ventures General Journal Entry User Guide.
3. The package contains two types of Excel sample files: Import file.xls and Import file 2.xls that have a different format – refer to the “Notes” chapter of Dynamic Ventures General Journal Entry User Guide. You can test both of them and see which one of them best fits your needs.
