Last Updated: Jan 23, 2012 10:26AM EST

STEP 1

Make sure that your printer is connected, powered on and set up per the instructions here. Then confirm that the cash drawer is connected to the printer via the cable that came with the drawer.

STEP 2

Open System Preferences (accessible via the  menu in the upper left corner of your screen). Click the "Print and Scan" icon, then click the "add" button as indicated below.

STEP 3

The "Add Printer" window has a list of printers currently visible to your compute. Choose the Star printer from the list.

(Note that while the picture below shows the kind of printer as USB, your printer's should be something like "Network" or "Ethernet")

STEP 4

Choose a name for the printer if you like, make sure Print Using is set to "Star TSP100 Cutter," then click "Add".

STEP 5

In your preferred web browser, go to the address "localhost:631". From there you can access your printing utility known as "CUPS". Click "Administration."

STEP 6

Since you've already added your Star Printer, there's no need to click "Add Printer." Just click "Manage Printers."

STEP 7

Click your Star printer in the list. Note that if you previously chose a name for it, it will be listed under that name.

STEP 8

Choose "Set Default Options" from the dropdown menu.

STEP 9

Click "Cash Drawer Control".

STEP 10

Choose "Open Drawer 1" from the dropdown menu, then click the "Set Default Options" button.

STEP 11

Last, you should see this if you've done everything correctly:

You should now have a working connection between the printer and cash drawer.
