Most scanners have the ability to convert the 8 digit UPC-E to a 12 digit number so that it can work with the ShopKeep.com POS software.  We recommend Metrologic scanners to our customers and Metrologic's have the ability to do this conversion.  It is very simple to do:

1. Find your Metrologic configuration guide here for your specific type of scanner

2. In the guide there will be a barcode you need to scan in order to tell the scanner to convert UPC-E to 12 digit UPC.  

3. Scan the 1 barcode and the scanner will make a different sound than usual to tell you it accepted.

4. Test by scanning your 8 digit barcode into NOTEPAD and see that is becomes 12 digits

Pretty easy huh?  The barcode above may work if you print it out but remember it is only for Metrologics scanners.
